Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Muise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Machio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muise misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Machio.
Machio misses with a low kick as Muise jumps back.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Muise, as that shot connected.

Machio closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Muise to the mat! Muise manages to get full guard.
Machio advances to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machio thows a huge punch but Muise dodges it nicely.
Machio is pressing down on Muise's thigh, looking to free his foot. Muise is holding on for now.
Machio wants to take a breather but Muise is having none of it.
Muise knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machio on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Machio is nestled in close to Muise, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Machio wants to lay and pray for a moment but Muise keeps working.

Machio has hold of Muise's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Muise manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Poor strikes thrown by Machio there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Muise on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Muise tries to get out of the position.

Machio wants to finish this one by submission but Muise is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Machio.

Machio lands a big shot there that rocks Muise but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Machio jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Muise manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Muise is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Machio has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Machio misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Muise dodges the ground and pound from Machio.

Machio is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Muise knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Machio goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Muise rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Machio's guard! Nice work there by Muise!

Muise got a little sloppy there for a moment and Machio has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Muise has managed to get both his arms back between Machio's legs - danger averted.

Muise controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Machio throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Muise escapes and throws Machio's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Muise with the ground and pound but Machio regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Machio is pressing down on Muise's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ralph Machio dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A slapping leg kick lands for Muise.

Machio changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Muise looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Machio has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Machio creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Muise sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Machio is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Muise is trying to escape and Machio transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Muise is forced to tap! Nice work there by Machio! Very nice indeed!
