Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lino Farrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Mazzagati!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mazzagati closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Mazzagati breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mazzagati swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Farrell seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Mazzagati throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mazzagati throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Farrell slips a jab and a cross from Mazzagati.
Farrell half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Farrell on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


It looks like Lino Farrell has been cut.
Mazzagati misses with an uppercut. Farrell saw that one coming.

Mazzagati fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Farrell to the ground. Mazzagati is now in Farrell's guard.
Farrell wants to sweep here but Mazzagati controlling him for the moment.
Mazzagati is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Mazzagati decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mazzagati shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Farrell manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Farrell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mazzagati defends well.

Mazzagati really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Farrell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mazzagati avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Farrell.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Farrell enables Mazzagati to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Farrell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Farrell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mazzagati lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Farrell circles away quickly and effectively.

Mazzagati throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Farrell.
Mazzagati's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mazzagati duly obliges.

Mazzagati smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Oh Farrell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mazzagati goes for a small jab and connects. Now Mazzagati goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Farrell stumbles back but Mazzagati runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Farrell to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Farrell will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

A very excited looking Steve Mazzagati made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
