PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steven Fromm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lukasz Kurkowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fromm's entrance music is YMCA. A fine choice. Steven Fromm has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Fromm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lukasz Kurkowski!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fromm tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kurkowski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A lazy left from Fromm finds it's target.
Kurkowski bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Fromm cracks Kurkowski with a big right hand and Kurkowski goes down!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fromm controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fromm passes into half guard.
Still in half guard, Fromm seems content to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fromm not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fromm is taking a breather. Kurkowski says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Fromm lands strikes from half guard.
Fromm lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Fromm stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Fromm misses with a double jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fromm.
Kurkowski moves out of range as Fromm throws a body kick.
A little jabbing left from Kurkowski on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kurkowski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fromm wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kurkowski throws a series of punches but Fromm avoids them all with ease.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kurkowski walks into a jab.

Fromm gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Fromm lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!


Kurkowski is rocked!
Fromm with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Kurkowski misses with the head strike.
Fromm misses with an elbow strike.
Fromm throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kurkowski blocks it with crossed arms.
Kurkowski gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fromm.

Fromm escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fromm takes a swing at Kurkowski's ribcage but misses.
Kurkowski blocks a jab.
Kurkowski is looking for the big counter here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fromm throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kurkowski counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kurkowski ducks under a wild hook from Fromm.
Fromm avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fromm walks into a stiff left hand from Kurkowski.
Steven Fromm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kurkowski connects with the punch.
Fromm connects with a body shot.
Fromm fails in his attempt to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kurkowski! But no joy.
Kurkowski cracks Fromm with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fromm slips a jab and a cross from Kurkowski.
Kurkowski takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Kurkowski connects with a crisp jab.
A punch combination from Fromm misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steven Fromm dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kurkowski closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Fromm and Kurkowski goes tumbling to the canvas! Fromm follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Kurkowski is still in real trouble! Can Fromm finish him?
Fromm lands a big elbow - Kurkowski is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Fromm!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steven Fromm!
Steven Fromm tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
