PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ritchie Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparbot One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Souza comes to the cage accompanied by Luxurious. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ritchie Souza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sparbot One!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

One moves into the clinch.

One gets control of Souza's arms and successfully pulls guard. One will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Souza trying to control but One is working from the bottom.
One is pulling down on Souza's head to control his posture.
Souza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. One swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Souza is looking to work some ground and pound but One has wrist control.

Souza drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and One dives on top into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souza wants to control the position but One says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Souza wants to get back to full guard but One has passed into side control.
One has control of an arm but Souza manages to advance to One's back!

That's one minute gone in the round.
One turns into Souza and is now in his guard.
Souza is trying to control the position but One postures up.
One seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
One won't allow Souza to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souza is trying to hold One in close to prevent damage but One has managed to pass into half guard.
Souza is trying to control but can't.
Souza is looking to improve his position.
We've been hearing good reports from Souza's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Souza wants to get back to his feet.

Souza is looking for a sweep. One is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

One's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Souza just trying to survive but One is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Souza rolls, trying to escape but One keeps control of the position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Souza is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
One slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Well, with One on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Souza is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Souza tries to escape but One has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Souza is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by One.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sparbot One dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



One clinches.
Souza jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as One walks away with a smile on his face. Souza gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

One gets in close and instigates a clinch.

One pulls Souza into guard.
Souza landing some decent shots from guard.
Souza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. One swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
One keeping moving, preventing Souza from controlling successfully.
Souza missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Souza looking to sit in guard and control but One gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

One has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Souza working for submissions but it's allowed One to get to half guard.
Souza is looking to control One's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Souza avoid being mounted?
Souza tries to regain full guard. Instead though, One has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
One controlling from mount.

Souza looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
One has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Souza's body.
Souza tries to break free.
Souza is trying to stand back up.

You can see the frustration on Souza's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
One has good solid back control here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Souza tries to escape but One has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Souza is trying to stand back up.
Souza tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sparbot One showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



One gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Souza jumps guard but One stands there with Souza around his waist. Souza gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Souza is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

One jumps guard and drags Souza to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
One is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
One is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Sparbot One has got the better of the ground game so far.

One pulls Souza in close to his closed guard and prevents Souza from doing any damage or advancing position.

Souza pushes down on One's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Souza is stalling here. One is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Souza seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and One has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

One sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Souza keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

One controlling his opponent.
Souza has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
What can Souza do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Souza trying to control the hands but One breaks the grip.
Souza tries to escape but One has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
One biding his time, looking for the opening.
One gets his hands free as Souza looks to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Souza is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
One keeps control of the position easily here as Souza tries to buck him off.
Souza is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
One just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
More stalling from One.
Ritchie Souza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sparbot One is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Souza is trying to get back to his feet but One has full control of the position and if anything, Souza has just worked his way into a worse spot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sparbot One comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well One has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
