Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Vlasov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Assad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oleg Vlasov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dustin Assad!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vlasov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Assad sprawls well initially but Vlasov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Vlasov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Assad's head.
Vlasov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Assad is trying to control but Vlasov manages to pass to mount!
Assad is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Vlasov looking to ground and pound but Assad is blocking nicely.
Vlasov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Assad is looking to improve his position but Vlasov isn't that keen on the idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Dustin Assad has been cut.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Vlasov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Assad wants to control but Vlasov is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Assad is looking for a sweep. Vlasov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Vlasov stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

That has opened up Dustin Assad's cut even more.
Assad rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vlasov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Assad is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vlasov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vlasov's back!

Assad tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vlasov paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Assad is trying to pull guard but Vlasov turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Assad is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Vlasov is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Assad has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vlasov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A very excited looking Oleg Vlasov rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
