Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Freddy Terrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Cena!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Terrell tries to sprawl but Cena drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Terrell is trying to maintain the position but Cena is very close to passing his half guard.
Cena content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Terrell trying to control but Cena postures up.
Cena slips a nice elbow through Terrell's hands, connecting with Terrell's forehead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Terrell wants to improve his position but Cena is controlling well.
Cena keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Terrell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Cena working the head and body with strikes.
Terrell wants to get back to full guard.
Cena controlling the pace.
Cena slips a nice elbow through Terrell's hands, connecting with Terrell's forehead.
Cena content to control rather than advance.
Terrell tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Terrell is looking to control Cena's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Terrell avoid being mounted?
Terrell wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Terrell wants to get back to full guard but Cena has passed into side control.
Cena connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Terrell some visible discomfort.
Cena happy to just control the position for now.
Terrell tries to control but Cena manages to take his back.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

It looks like Cena might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Cena lands with a hammerfist to the side of Terrell's head.
Cena controls the action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cena lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Cena tightening his grip on Terrell, looking for the choke.
Good control from Cena.
Let's hope that Cena has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

John Cena dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Terrell pushes Cena away with a front kick.
Cena throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Terrell.

Cena moves into the clinch successfully.
Terrell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cena just stands there and leans against the cage.
Terrell fails to pull guard.
Cena prevents Terrell from breaking the clinch.
Terrell tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Terrell. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cena manages to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cena has his hands on Terrell's head, controlling the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cena is on top in guard.

Cena seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
John Cena has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cena advances to half guard.
Cena wants to stand up but Terrell manages to regain full guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cena's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Cena postures up and lands a big shot to Terrell's brow.
Cena controlling from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Terrell is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cena can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cena throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Terrell escapes and throws Cena's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Terrell could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cena manages to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cena wants to improve his position but Terrell is controlling well.
Cena moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cena wants to sweep but no luck.
Terrell is fighting to break Cena's control of his arms but Cena is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cena escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Terrell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Terrell throws an elbow that misses. Cena uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Terrell's guard. Nice move by Cena!

Cena is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cena won't allow Terrell to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Cena showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Cena comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Cena fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Terrell manages to avoid it.
Terrell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Cena shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cena was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Terrell is looking to get back to his feet here but Cena is keeping cool and he's managed to take Terrell's back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cena patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Cena has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cena is looking for a choke. Terrell gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Terrell manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Cena has his hands on Terrell's head, controlling the position.
Cena looking to control but Terrell passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Terrell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cena is just riding it out for now. Terrell eventually gives up the hold.
Cena works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cena looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cena holds on and takes a little breather.
Terrell won't allow Cena to sweep him here.

Cena is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Terrell stops Cena from standing up.
Terrell trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cena's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cena pulls Terrell in close to his closed guard and prevents Terrell from doing any damage or advancing position.

Cena is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Terrell defends well.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Cena comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cena has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
