PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Celso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Celso has chosen Bad Boys by The Inner Circle as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Anthony Celso is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Celso has managed to clinch.

Williams won't allow Celso to sweep him here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Celso holds on and takes a little breather.
Williams wanted to stand there but Celso had control of the position.
Celso looking to control.
Celso wants to sweep here but Williams controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Celso swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Celso not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Celso dives in and grabs Williams's left leg, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes down on Celso's head and hops out.
Celso takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Celso takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Williams lands a nice shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Williams lands a jab to Celso's midsection.
Celso shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.

Celso clinches up against the cage.
Williams wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Celso escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Celso tries to score a body lock takedown but Williams shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Williams is trying to break the clinch but Celso has him pressed against the cage.
Williams has had enough of the clinch but Celso keeps him there for the moment.
Williams tries to break free but Celso pushes him back against the cage.
Celso wants a takedown.
Celso fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Celso escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Williams feints a jab promting Celso to slip. Williams then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Celso slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Williams throws a body punch but Celso moves out of range.
Celso shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Williams pinned against the cage. Williams gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Williams lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williams throws a series of punches but Celso moves out of range.
Danga de danga de dang - Williams scores with a four punch combination!
Celso shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alex Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Williams looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Williams is breathing heavily.
Celso tries to score a power double leg takedown but Williams sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Celso somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Celso shoots in looking for a takedown. Williams tries to sprawl out of it but Celso keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Williams manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Williams went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Williams lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Celso shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Celso keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Williams's efforts to push away.

Celso manages to pull guard.

Celso has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Williams has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Celso has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Williams is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Celso pulls guard successfully.
Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Celso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Williams is really struggling to control Celso but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Celso tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Williams just stands there and leans against the cage.

Williams wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Celso jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Williams walks away with a smile on his face. Celso gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Williams slaps away a takedown attempt from Celso, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Williams throws a right hand that Celso ducks under and follows up with a left that Celso also avoids with ease.
Celso shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A quick step to the side and Williams tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Celso tries to counter by closing the distance.
Williams fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alex Williams showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Williams, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
