The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lomax fails with a takedown attempt.

Franklin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Lomax moves forwards but Franklin connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Lomax throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lomax misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lomax is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Lomax tries to throw a body punch but Franklin avoids it by throwing Lomax back against the cage.

Franklin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Franklin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lomax thinking.
Franklin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Lomax tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Franklin defends well and Lomax ends up having to push Franklin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sebastian Lomax. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Franklin cracks Lomax with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Franklin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lomax's head backwards.
Lomax is looking to clinch but Franklin is avoiding it.
Lomax closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Franklin counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Lomax takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sebastian Lomax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Franklin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lomax had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Franklin fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Lomax to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Lomax looks to clinch but Franklin throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Lomax taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
