Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hassan Fitzpatrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald avoids the head kick by Fitzpatrick.
McDonald uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fitzpatrick.
McDonald is looking for the big counter here.

McDonald looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fitzpatrick keeping full guard, as McDonald tries to pass.
Fitzpatrick keeping moving, preventing McDonald from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonald won't allow Fitzpatrick to sweep him here.

Fitzpatrick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McDonald gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McDonald is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fitzpatrick doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McDonald.
Fitzpatrick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McDonald on the ground.
McDonald moves nicely into side control.
Fitzpatrick could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Fitzpatrick is pushing McDonald's head away, looking to escape. McDonald manages to hold on to the position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald wants to control but Fitzpatrick is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDonald tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McDonald has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

McDonald has hold of Fitzpatrick's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Fitzpatrick seems comfortable defending it but McDonald has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Fitzpatrick is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Fitzpatrick is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McDonald couldn't care less - he's delighted!

After the fight, Paul McDonald was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
