The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sveinsson misses with an uppercut.

Sveinsson rushes Minakov and presses him up against the cage.

Still in the clinch, Minakov scores with a nice short uppercut.
Minakov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Minakov tries to work over Sveinsson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sveinsson throws a head punch that misses.
Minakov pushes off an throws an elbow but Sveinsson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
I was talking to Minakov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Minakov throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Sveinsson misses with a short punch on the inside.
Minakov blocks an uppercut.

A right hook to the body lands for Sveinsson.
Minakov tries to circle away but Sveinsson has him pinned against the cage.
Sveinsson is pushing Minakov up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Minakov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

and Sveinsson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Minakov thinking.

and Sveinsson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

It looks like Vitaly Minakov has been cut.
Minakov misses with an uppercut. Sveinsson saw that one coming.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sveinsson! But no joy.
Minakov ducks right into an uppercut from Sveinsson.
Sveinsson connects with a looping right hand.
Sveinsson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sveinsson cracks Minakov with an open hand slap.
Sveinsson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Minakov paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sveinsson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Minakov lands with a nice body punch.
Sveinsson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Minakov.
Minakov throws a jab but it's blocked by Sveinsson.
Sveinsson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Sveinsson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Minakov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sveinsson looks to score with a jab to the body but Minakov is just out of range.
Minakov is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Sveinsson's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Minakov misses with a looping left.
Minakov throws an overhand right that lands on Sveinsson's shoulder, as Sveinsson tries to avoid the shot.
Minakov misses with a straight left.
Sveinsson misses with a looping right.
Minakov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Minakov dodges the punch combination from Sveinsson.

Sveinsson lands a left and a right that send Minakov crashing to the mat, dazed. Sveinsson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Minakov misses with a hook.
Sveinsson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

A looping hook to the body misses from Sveinsson. Minakov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sveinsson gets in close and tags Minakov with a short punch that almost sends Minakov to the mat! Oh Minakov is in big trouble! He turns his back on Sveinsson, trying to create some distance but Sveinsson rushes him, striking wildly and Minakov goes down! The referee tackles Sveinsson into the cage to end the fight! Sveinsson is one violent man!
