Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Midori Kaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Bawns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Midori Kaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Bawns!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bawns connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kaze looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Bawns scores with a leg kick.

Kaze throws a sloppy head kick and Bawns moves out of range easily.
Kaze moves out of range of the strikes.
Ben Bawns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bawns scores with a shot to the body.
Kaze tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bawns sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kaze somewhat.
Bawns pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Bawns is looking to slow Kaze down with leg kicks.
Kaze really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bawns pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Kaze changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bawns fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Kaze has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bawns clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

We've been hearing good reports from Kaze's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bawns tries to roll but Kaze sticks to his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bawns trying to get back to his feet but Kaze is in full control for now.
Kaze gets his hands free as Bawns looks to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bawns is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
