Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Kurtz (ranked 363 p4p, 49 weight class) and Chins Gone (ranked 635 p4p, 91 weight class). Kurtz comes to the cage accompanied by Adagio For Strings. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Walter Kurtz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chins Gone!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gone avoids the body shot from Kurtz.

Gone moves into the clinch.
Gone softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Gone throws a head punch that misses.
Kurtz tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kurtz blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gone misses with some punches.
Gone throws a punch but it's blocked by Kurtz.
Gone is trying to force a seperation but Kurtz has the dominant position.
Kurtz has a couple of punches blocked by Gone.
Kurtz jumps guard but Gone turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kurtz.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gone lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kurtz blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Gone tries to land a knee to the head but Kurtz blocks with his arms.

Kurtz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kurtz cracks a nice hook into Gone's ribs.
Kurtz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gone swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Gone scoring well with a low kick there.
Gone dips to his left and cracks Kurtz with an uppercut!

It looks like Chins Gone has been cut.
Kurtz blocks a low kick nicely.
Gone scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gone throws out a powerful jab.
Kurtz lands a head shot.
Gone wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kurtz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kurtz there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kurtz cracks Gone with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gone looks to score with a jab to the body but Kurtz is just out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Kurtz on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Gone takes a swing at Kurtz's ribcage but misses.
Kurtz looks to land a body kick but Gone moved away.
Gone looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kurtz staying out of range there.
Kurtz throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gone moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Gone misses with a right hand
and Kurtz counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gone thinking.
Gone misses with a straight left.
Kurtz throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kurtz throws a leg kick that misses.
Kurtz swings for the body but Gone moves out of range.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Gone.
Kurtz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gone.
An attempted straight right counter from Kurtz misses the target.

Kurtz connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gone's hands.
Gone lands a slapping body shot.
Chins Gone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gone scores with a nice head shot.
Kurtz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Gone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kurtz.
Kurtz misses with an uppercut
letting Gone counter with a right hand.
Kurtz takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kurtz throws a hook but Gone blocks it.
Gone avoids the body shot from Kurtz.
Gone swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Gone feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kurtzs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Kurtz counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gone fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kurtz blocks a jab.
Gone misses with an uppercut
and Kurtz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gone jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gone misses with an uppercut.
A bone on bone clash there as Kurtz blocks the leg kick.
Gone misses with a right hand
and Kurtz counters with a good low kick that Gone was not able to check.
Gone throws a series of punches but Kurtz moves out of range.
Gone throws a hook but Kurtz avoids it easily.
Gone throws a shot from downtown. Kurtz moves away and avoids it.
Kurtz waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gone.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chins Gone dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gone loads up on a big right hand but Kurtz slips the punch.
Gone takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Kurtz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kurtz walks into a straight right hand from Gone.
Kurtz swats away the attempt to clinch by Gone.
Kurtz throws a head kick but Gone moves out of range.
Chins Gone seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gone fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kurtz misses with an attempted mid kick.

Kurtz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gone throws out the jab.
Kurtz walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gone checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kurtz digs a right hand into Gone's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Gone's gas tank.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kurtz takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Gone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gone tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kurtz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kurtz checks a leg kick.
Kurtz swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Gone misses with an uppercut. Kurtz saw that one coming.
Kurtz throws out a loose jab but Gone uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kurtz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Gone throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kurtz walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gone checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kurtz drops Gone with a naaaaasty hook - Gone is in real trouble here! Kurtz dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

During a confident post fight interview, Walter Kurtz thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
