Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan Dworshak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mitch Monroe!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dworshak shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Monroe as he jumps to the side.

Monroe tries to sprawl but Dworshak drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dworshak perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dworshak is looking for a kimura here.
Dworshak takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dworshak is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dworshak not doing much here.

Dworshak is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dworshak is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Monroe has managed to free his arm - good work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dworshak looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dworshak seems to be working for a kimura but Monroe defends the submission attempt.

Dworshak is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Monroe defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dworshak sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Monroe defending well though.
Dworshak is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Dworshak uses his free foot to push down on Monroe's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Monroe.
Dworshak wants to control the pace but Monroe is squirming around nicely.
We've been hearing that Dworshak has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Monroe is trying to stand.
Monroe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dworshak working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Monroe looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Dworshak! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Evan Dworshak!
Evan Dworshak spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
