Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Shahen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Callaghan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Shahen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Callaghan!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Callaghan takes the fight into the clinch.
Our sources have told us that Shahen has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Shahen tries to circle away but Callaghan has him pinned against the cage.

Shahen comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Tommy Callaghan has been cut.

Callaghan is pushing Shahen up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
With the fighters up against the cage, Callaghan throws an elbow but misses.

Callaghan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Callaghan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Shahen after a bit of a struggle.

Callaghan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shahen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Shahen has hold of one of Callaghan's legs. Callaghan is fighting the takedown attempt but Shahen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Shahen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Callaghan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Callaghan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shahen.
As Shahen backs off Callaghan throws a huge counter combo but Shahen manages to avoid it all.

Callaghan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Callaghan throws a head kick but Shahen moves out of range.

Shahen using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Callaghan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Shahen drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Callaghan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Callaghan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shahen walks away with a smile on his face. Callaghan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Shahen shoots in for a double leg but Callaghan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A frustrated look appears on Callaghan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Shahen for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Callaghan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shahen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
