Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Jay Stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Heronzo!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens connects with a crisp jab.
Heronzo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stevens as he jumps to the side.

Heronzo gets a double leg takedown into Stevens's guard.

Heronzo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Heronzo tries to free his leg and advance position but Stevens is retaining full guard.
Stevens on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stevens tries to get out of the position.
Heronzo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stevens works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Heronzo gets to his feet. Stevens looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Heronzo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Heronzo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stevens sprawls well. Stevens wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Heronzo gets slowly back to his feet.
Jay Jay Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Heronzo.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stevens scores with a hook to the body. Heronzo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Stevens thuds his right hand into Heronzo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A nice combination there by Stevens.
Heronzo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stevens but Stevens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stevens feints a jab promting Heronzo to slip. Stevens then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Heronzo slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Stevens leaves Heronzo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A jab from Stevens does it's job there.
Stevens connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Heronzo's hands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Heronzo avoids the head kick by Stevens.
Heronzo is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
A head kick from Stevens lands but Heronzo takes it in his stride.


Heronzo is rocked!
A head kick misses from Stevens.
Heronzo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Stevens defends it well.
Heronzo is still on wobbly legs! Can Stevens finish him?
Decent striking displayed by Stevens there.
Heronzo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stevens as he jumps to the side.
A head kick by Stevens misses

and Heronzo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Heronzo.
Stevens is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Heronzo tries to stand but Stevens is controlling from the bottom.
Stevens wants to sweep but no luck.
Heronzo seems to have recovered his senses.
Stevens keeping moving, preventing Heronzo from controlling successfully.

Heronzo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Heronzo forces his way into half guard.

Heronzo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Stevens is trying to stand up here but Heronzo is controlling him well.

Heronzo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stevens tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Heronzo manages to move to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stevens is working to get back to half guard.

Heronzo throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Stevens has his hands clasped together but Heronzo breaks the hold and Stevens is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Heronzo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Eric Heronzo!
