Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mason Hodge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Lattimer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pete Lattimer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mason Hodge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pete Lattimer!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lattimer throws a head kick that misses.
Hodge slaps away a takedown attempt from Lattimer, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lattimer wants to clinch.
Hodge attempts a counter takedown but Lattimer avoids it well and moves away.
Hodge dives in and grabs Lattimer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lattimer pushes down on Hodge's head and hops out.
Lattimer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hodge decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lattimer's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hodge cracks Lattimer with a solid left hand.
Hodge sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hodge trying to control but Lattimer is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hodge sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hodge postures up in Lattimer's guard and throws a big left but Lattimer blocks it.
Hodge stays in close to Lattimer's body and controls the position.

Lattimer looking for a guillotine here but Hodge defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hodge slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Lattimer looking for a sweep. Not yet Lattimer, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hodge throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lattimer was covering up waiting for the punch and Hodge finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hodge is standing up over Lattimer. Lattimer looks to escape but Hodge dives into side control.
Lattimer looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Hodge is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lattimer will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hodge scores with a couple of short elbows.

Hodge is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lattimer has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hodge is looking to take a break and control but Lattimer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lattimer gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Hodge working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Lattimer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hodge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hodge scoring with strikes but Lattimer is staying in there.
Lattimer is working to get back to half guard.
Hodge punishing his opponent with strikes.
Hodge raining down shots from the mount!
Hodge with shots to the head and body - Lattimer looks very uncomfortable down there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hodge lands a nice shot to the head.
Hodge landing strikes from the mount and Lattimer is in trouble!


Lattimer is rocked!
Hodge cracks Lattimer with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mason Hodge!
