Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Levert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Samuel Levert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Jims!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Levert tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Jims shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jims was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Levert is trying to get back to half guard.
Jims is looking to take a break and control but Levert is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Levert looking for a sweep but Jims has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Levert is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Jims wants to finish this one by submission but Levert is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jims.

Jims is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Levert is surviving well by controlling Jims's body position as best he can.
Levert wants to control but Jims is having none of it.
Levert can't escape the position.
Levert is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Levert is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jims is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jims looking to control but Levert is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jims thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Jims mounts Levert! Really nice guard pass there!
Levert knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jims on the ground.
Levert tries to hold on but Jims postures up.
Levert is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Levert is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Levert is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jims can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Levert is looking to escape.

Levert is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Well, with Jims on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Levert is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Jims keeps control of the position as Levert tries to break free.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Levert throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jims's waist but Jims gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Levert off to one side.
Jims ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Levert moves away.

Levert closes the distance and clinches.

Levert escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Levert shoots in for a takedown but Jims shows good takedown defense.
Levert throws a hook to the side of Jims's head but Jims sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Jims shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jims showed some decent athleticism there.
Levert is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jims is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Levert is positioning himself well to prevent Jims advancing to mount.
Levert wants to control but Jims is keeping busy.
Jims passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Levert!

Jims is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Levert can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Jims is breathing heavily.
Levert is squirming around, avoiding Jims's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Levert really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Levert on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Levert tries to get out of the position.
Levert wants to get back to his feet.
Levert manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jim Jims has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are battling for position here. Levert manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Jims avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Levert pulls Jims in close to his closed guard and prevents Jims from doing any damage or advancing position.

Levert had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jims defends it easily.
Jims tries to free his leg and advance position but Levert is retaining full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Levert looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jims drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jims jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jims wants to control from the top but Levert keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Levert fails in his attempt to clinch.
A countering left hand to the body from Jims misses.

Levert clinches up with Jims and pushes him back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jims tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Levert just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jims dodges an elbow strike from Levert.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jim Jims will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Levert tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jims swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Levert dives in for a single leg takedown but Jims sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Levert doesn't manage to clinch there - Jims circles away.
Levert is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Levert looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Levert is looking to take a break and control but Jims is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jims wants to get back to full guard.
Jims makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jims.

Jims keeping moving, preventing Levert from controlling successfully.
Levert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jims swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jims trying to keep a closed guard but Levert is proving a slippery customer.
Jims takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Levert wants to pass the guard but Jims is keeping the position.

Jims is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Levert's corner is telling him to maintain position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Levert wants to stand but Jims has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Levert takes the fight into the clinch.

Levert escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Levert misses with a two punch combination.
The fighters circling - Levert throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Levert tries to clinch up.
Samuel Levert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Levert closes the distance and pushes Jims back into the cage.
Jims jumps guard but Levert stands there with Jims around his waist. Jims gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Levert breaks from the clinch.

Jims shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Jims prevents Levert from getting back to his feet.
Jims preventing the sweep.

Levert escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jims gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Levert looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Levert pulls Jims in close to prevent any damage.
Jims won't allow Levert to sweep him here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Levert holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jims swats away the attempt to clinch by Levert.
Samuel Levert has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Levert fails to land with a series of punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Samuel Levert showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jims has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
