The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales throws a right hand that misses
and Kagiyama connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gonzales fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kagiyama manages to avoid it.

and Kagiyama cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gonzales takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Kagiyama tries to throw a body punch but Gonzales avoids it by throwing Kagiyama back against the ropes.

Kagiyama tries to throw a body punch but Gonzales avoids it by throwing Kagiyama back against the ropes.
I was talking to Gonzales's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Kagiyama lands with a light punch inside.
Kagiyama has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Gonzales seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Kagiyama can turn it around.

Kagiyama is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gonzales pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Luis Gonzales has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terunari Kagiyama.
Kagiyama has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gonzales is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kagiyama tries to circle away but Gonzales has him pinned against the ropes.

and Kagiyama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gonzales scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kagiyama throws a lazy uppercut
and Gonzales counters with a huge left! Kagiyama is in big trouble! He's backing up but Gonzales isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Kagiyama from any more damage. A dominating finish by Gonzales!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Luis Gonzales!
In his post fight interview, Luis Gonzales started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
