Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Masvidal !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dollar Bill!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masvidal shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bill defends it nicely.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Bill enables Masvidal to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bill trying to control the position.
Masvidal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bill works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Masvidal postures up in Bill's guard and throws a big left but Bill blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masvidal is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That has opened up Dollar Bill's cut even more.
Masvidal trying to move into half guard but instead Bill has managed to sweep!
Masvidal keeping full guard, as Bill tries to pass.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masvidal is trying to control the position but Bill postures up.
Bill's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Bill missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Masvidal looking for a sweep. Not yet Masvidal , not yet.
Masvidal is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bill dives into side control.
Bill goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Masvidal has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bill but great work by Masvidal .
Bill manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bill wants to control but Masvidal is keeping busy.
Masvidal is nestled in close to Bill, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The cut above Dollar Bill's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masvidal is thwarting Bill's attempts to control the position.
Masvidal is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Dollar Bill's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dollar Bill's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Diego Masvidal !
