PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lowell Bockert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nigel Gazelle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lowell Bockert had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lowell Bockert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nigel Gazelle!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bockert fails with a takedown attempt.
Bockert shoots in looking for a takedown. Gazelle tries to sprawl out of it but Bockert keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gazelle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gazelle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Bockert gets tackled into the cage by Gazelle. Gazelle maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bockert can't get the takedown.

Bockert takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Gazelle wants to control but Bockert is keeping him busy.
Gazelle looks up at the clock and then as Bockert takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gazelle smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Gazelle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bockert keeps working.
Bockert can't do much from the bottom here.

Gazelle scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bockert to see if he's OK.
Bockert is looking for a sweep.

Gazelle working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Nigel Gazelle dominated that round.

Gazelle fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bockert to the ground. Gazelle is now in Bockert's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Bockert manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Gazelle goes for a takedown attempt but Bockert pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bockert shoots in looking for a takedown but Gazelle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bockert's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gazelle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bockert's waist but Bockert gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gazelle off to one side.
Bockert stuffs the takedown.
Lowell Bockert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nigel Gazelle.
Gazelle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bockert avoids it really well and circles away.
Nigel Gazelle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bockert looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gazelle is fending him off so far but Bockert persists. Nope, Gazelle circles away and we're back to standing.

Bockert bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gazelle's guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Gazelle closes the distance and clinches up with Bockert, looking for a takedown. Gazelle pushes Bockert against the cage but Bockert circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gazelle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gazelle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bockert avoids it really well and circles away.

Bockert lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Gazelle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gazelle wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Bockert counters with a nice uppercut.
Bockert dives in for a single leg takedown but Gazelle sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Gazelle doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Bockert is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gazelle's half guard.

Bockert wants to take a breather but Gazelle is having none of it.

Gazelle seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Nigel Gazelle is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
