And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.

Monteban has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Santos is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Monteban.

Monteban drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Santos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Monteban has Santos in his guard.

Santos scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Monteban as he avoids it easily.

Santos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Santos wants it to stay on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Monteban jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Santos is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Santos and Monteban has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Santos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Monteban's guard.
Santos seems to have recovered his senses.

My spies in Combate Gym 🇧🇷 inform me that Santos has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Monteban has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Monteban is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Ricardo Monteban will probably get the nod.
