PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dimi Karalopolous (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malaquias Teixeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karalopolous comes to the cage accompanied by Now We Are Free. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Malaquias Teixeira!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karalopolous fails with the takedown
letting Teixeira counter with a right hand.
Karalopolous shoots in but no luck this time.
Karalopolous takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Karalopolous shoots in looking for a takedown. Teixeira tries to sprawl out of it but Karalopolous keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Teixeira manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dimi Karalopolous. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karalopolous closes the distance and clinches up with Teixeira, looking for a takedown. Karalopolous pushes Teixeira against the cage but Teixeira circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The referee asks Karalopolous politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Karalopolous prefers to stall for the moment though.

Karalopolous is staying tight to Teixeira's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Karalopolous has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Teixeira is working to avoid the ground and pound but Karalopolous connects with a decent elbow.

Karalopolous looks up at the clock and then as Teixeira takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Karalopolous smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Teixeira tries to buck Karalopolous off but Karalopolous is having none of it.
Karalopolous has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Teixeira!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Karalopolous pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

A big strike lands for Karalopolous! That's really hurt Teixeira and he's turned his back - Karalopolous keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Karalopolous jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
