Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Delbert Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Corey Stainer !
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stainer thows a body kick. Hines tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Stainer lands a left and a right that send Hines crashing to the mat, dazed. Stainer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Delbert Hines has been cut.
Stainer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hines swats him away and circles back towards the center.
It looked like Hines was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Stainer .
Hines moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Stainer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stainer tries to stand but Hines is controlling his head.
Stainer throws a strike aimed at the side of Hines's head but Hines avoids it well.

Stainer stands up and beckons Hines to his feet.
Stainer tries to clinch there but Hines circles away.
Stainer lands a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hines gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stainer to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stainer wants to get up but he can't break Hines's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Stainer throws a strike but Hines rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hines slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hines forces his way into half guard.
Hines looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Stainer is trying to maintain the position but Hines is very close to passing his half guard.

Hines is working for a submission of some sort.
Hines content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hines prevents Stainer from standing back up.
Hines really is a fat lump.
Hines takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Corey Stainer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stainer lands a left and a right that send Hines crashing to the mat, dazed. Stainer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
A decent looking body kick lands there for Hines.
Stainer throws a body punch but Hines moves out of range.
Stainer fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hines takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Stainer looking to score a takedown here. Hines is defending well but Stainer drives through and ends up in Hines's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hines escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stainer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Stainer gets a clinch.
Stainer wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stainer lands a nice shot to the body.

Hines drags the fight down to the ground.
Stainer trying to control but Hines is working from the bottom.

Stainer gets to his feet - Hines follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stainer looking to score a takedown here. Hines is defending well but Stainer drives through and ends up in Hines's guard.
Hines wants to control the position but Stainer says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Hines is refusing to be controlled, as Stainer sits in half guard.
Stainer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Hines controls his leg.
Hines might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Stainer decides to stand and escape the position.

Stainer lands a big head kick that sends Hines tumbling to the mat! Stainer takes a step backwards and waves Hines back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Stainer clinches.

Hines manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Stainer tries to free his leg and advance position but Hines is retaining full guard.

Stainer postures up.
Stainer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hines throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stainer trying to control the position from guard on top but Hines is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stainer tries to stand but Hines is controlling from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stainer lands a jab to the nose.
Stainer misses with a two punch combination.

Stainer clinches up against the cage.
Hines has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hines.

Stainer pulls guard.
Stainer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hines is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hines is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hines postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hines controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Corey Stainer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Stainer shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hines eats them both and turns towards Stainer to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Corey Stainer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stainer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Stainer showed some decent athleticism there.

Stainer escapes and gets back to his feet.

Hines seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Stainer throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hines escapes and throws Stainer 's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Stainer is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hines's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Hines! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Stainer has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Delbert Hines!
