Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Buck Futter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phat Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ho is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water. Phat Ho will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buck Futter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phat Ho!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Futter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ho's waist but Ho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Futter off to one side.
Ho fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nice defenses there by Futter.
Ho throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Buck Futter has been cut.
Ho throws a head kick that misses.
Futter blocks the body kick.
Futter dives in and grabs Ho's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ho pushes down on Futter's head and hops out.
Phat Ho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ho looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Ho fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Futter has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Futter throws a shot from downtown. Ho moves away and avoids it.
Futter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Ho misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Buck Futter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Futter darts in looking for a takedown but Ho gets double underhooks and turns Futter into the cage.
Ho comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Ho moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Futter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ho throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Good work by Futter as he checks the leg kick.
Ho is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Futter blocks a head kick by Ho.
Ho has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Ho lands a head shot.
Ho lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
A slow jab from Futter misses its intended target.
Ho takes a swing at Futter's ribcage but misses.

Nice body kick there by Ho.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Futter shoots and misses
and Ho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ho throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Ho tries to clinch up but Futter circles away and keeps his distance.
Futter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ho.
Ho dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ho throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Futter drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ho sprawls and moves away.
Ho wants to land a leg kick but Futter is out of range.
Futter tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Futter moves out of range as Ho throws a body kick.
Ho misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Futter counters with a single leg into guard. Ho didn't expect that.

Ho pushes Futter off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ho moves in looking to clinch but Futter pushes him off.
Futter appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
A slapping body kick lands there for Ho.
Futter walks into a straight right hand from Ho.
Ho connects with an inside leg kick.
Ho throws a leg kick that is checked

and Futter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Futter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Futter trying to control the position from guard on top but Ho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Futter wants to pass the guard but Ho is keeping the position.
Futter looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phat Ho dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Buck Futter's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ho throws the left hand but Futter avoids the punch easily.
Ho throws a series of punches but Futter avoids them all with ease.

Futter scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Ho throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Ho fakes the leg kick and cracks Futter in the body.
Futter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ho.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ho walks into a straight right hand from Futter.

Futter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Futter just content to control the position.

Futter thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Futter working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Futter wants to control but Ho is keeping him busy.
Buck Futter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Futter content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Ho wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ho managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Futter.
Futter controlling from side mount.

Futter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ho is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Futter advances nicely into full mount.

Futter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ho is now in Futter's guard. A big mistake from Futter there, giving up the dominant position!
Ho wants to control from the top but Futter keeps moving.

Futter isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ho stacks Futter on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ho!
Futter is looking to regain half guard here but Ho keeps moving and retains side control.
Futter holds on to Ho's head and controls the position momentarily.

Futter regains full guard. Nicely done.
Futter pulls Ho in close to his closed guard and prevents Ho from doing any damage or advancing position.

Futter is looking for a triangle but Ho pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Phat Ho will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Futter shoots in for a takedown but Ho shows good takedown defense.

Futter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Futter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ho has escaped the position, nice work there.

Futter is really struggling to control Ho but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Futter tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Futter trying to control the action but Ho is working from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ho prevents Futter from improving position.
Futter takes a little break here. Ho wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Phat Ho is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The strikes coming from Futter are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Futter tries for a kimura but Ho is defending well.
Futter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ho keeps working.
Futter is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Ho is looking to regain half guard here but Futter keeps moving and retains side control.

Futter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Futter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ho cracks Futter with a right hand to the side of the head.
Phat Ho seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Futter shoots in and drives through. Ho sprawls well.
Ho throws a lazy uppercut

and Futter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ho's guard.
Ho wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Futter manages to pass to side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Buck Futter showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ho has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
