And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 47 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Steigelmann!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steigelmann throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Steigelmann looks to score with a jab to the body but Hoyce is just out of range.
Hoyce throws a series of punches but Steigelmann moves out of range.
Decent striking displayed by Hoyce there.


It looks like Gunnar Steigelmann has been cut.
Hoyce dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Steigelmann. That did some damage!
Hoyce throws a jab when Steigelmann was well out of range.
Steigelmann swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Steigelmann lands a left and a right that sends Hoyce crashing to the canvas! Steigelmann dives into mount looking to finish!


Hoyce is rocked!


It looks like Hennan Hoyce has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steigelmann prevents Hoyce from getting the reversal.
Oh Hoyce is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Steigelmann tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hoyce seems to have got his legs back now.
Hoyce tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hoyce is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hoyce is desperately trying to improve his position but Steigelmann has a good base and remains in mount.
Steigelmann tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hoyce's coaches at Jed's Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Hoyce is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hoyce is looking to get to half guard.
Steigelmann tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hoyce blocking the ground and pound.
Steigelmann controlling his opponent.
Hoyce doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?
Steigelmann avoids the attempt from Hoyce to control.

Hoyce manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Hoyce tries to kick Steigelmann off but Steigelmann keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoyce avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Steigelmann.
Steigelmann is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Nice strikes from Steigelmann there.
Hoyce wants to control but Steigelmann is keeping busy.
Hoyce pushes Steigelmann off looking to stand but Steigelmann dives back in and keeps control.
Steigelmann perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Steigelmann has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A swing and a miss from Hoyce.
Hoyce staying out of range there.
Steigelmann connects with a solid leg kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Hoyce finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Donk. Hoyce catches Steigelmann right on the button with a cross.
Hoyce scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Steigelmann looks winded!
Steigelmann misses with a left hand
and Hoyce counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Steigelmann slips a straight right by Hoyce.
Steigelmann takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hoyce grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Steigelmann takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Hoyce cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hennan Hoyce!
