Givens comes to the cage accompanied by Cancer Bats - Sabotage. Patrick Givens could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sylar Evans's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sylar Evans!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans tries for a takedown but Givens sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Evans swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Evans waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Givens.

Evans clinches up against the cage.

Evans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Evans misses with a head kick.
A little feinted left hand from Givens on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Sylar Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Evans clinches.

Evans jumps guard.
Evans controlling the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evans can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Givens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evans swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Evans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Givens's guard.

Evans not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Evans slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Evans goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Givens has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Evans but great work by Givens.

Givens thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Givens prevents Evans from escaping the position.
Evans is looking to regain half guard here but Givens keeps moving and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evans is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Evans is defending against the submission attempts here by Givens.
Givens is breathing heavily.

Givens is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Evans slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Evans is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Givens is controlling him.
Givens pushes down on Evans's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Givens is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Evans manages to get to full guard.
Evans wants to sweep but no luck.
Givens is looking to pass into half guard but Evans pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Evans is in guard.

Evans connects with a couple of short punches.
Evans is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Evans distracts Givens with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Evans lands a couple of digs.
Givens is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Evans is controlling him.
Evans stays in close to Givens's body and controls the position.
Evans slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans advances to full mount.

Evans looking for a guillotine from mount but Givens is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sylar Evans dominated that round.

Evans pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Evans rushes Givens and presses him up against the cage.

Evans breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Givens thows a leg kick but Evans checks it

and Evans counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Evans is controlling the pace.
Givens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Evans scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Evans is controlling the pace.

Evans stands up and beckons Givens to join him on the feet.
Evans misses with a takedown attempt
letting Givens counter with a right hand.
Givens throws a series of punches but Evans moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Evans.
Givens is looking to get back to his feet here but Evans is keeping cool and he's managed to take Givens's back.

Evans patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Evans is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Evans throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Givens!
Givens is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Evans is cranking Givens's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Givens! He's tightened the choke and Givens is tapping out!

Patrick Givens was interviewed post fight and said 'I will only come back stronger'.
