Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Bush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gabriel Skrarski!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skrarski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bush circles away.

Skrarski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bush manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bush looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bush throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bush doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've been hearing good reports from Bush's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Bush trying to keep a closed guard but Skrarski is proving a slippery customer.
Bush has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bush escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Skrarski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bush is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Skrarski drops back looking for a leg! Bush is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bush manages to kick Skrarski off! Skrarski jumps back into Bush's guard.
Bush on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bush tries to get out of the position.

Skrarski trying to control but Bush is working from the bottom.
Bush keeping full guard, as Skrarski tries to pass.
Bush not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Skrarski throws a big elbow that misses.
Skrarski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Skrarski content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Skrarski trying to control but Bush is working from the bottom.
Bush is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Skrarski lands a couple of digs.


It looks like George Bush has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Skrarski scoring with punches to the head and body.

Skrarski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Skrarski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bush is trying to control the position but Skrarski postures up.
Skrarski in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Skrarski trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Skrarski told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Bush looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bush can't keep his opponent in guard - Skrarski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Skrarski seems to be working for a kimura but Bush defends the submission attempt.
Bush throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bush is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bush tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Bush is doing well to control the position and prevent Skrarski from advancing to side control.
Skrarski is looking to advance position but Bush won't allow it.
Skrarski passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bush!
Skrarski pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.


George Bush's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Bush is looking to improve his position but Skrarski isn't that keen on the idea.
Bush tries to hold on but Skrarski postures up.

Skrarski is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bush can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Skrarski lands a big elbow.


Jeez, George Bush's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at George Bush's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Gabriel Skrarski!
A relieved looking Gabriel Skrarski thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
