Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Florencio Short (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolay Zaitsev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikolay Zaitsev will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zaitsev swinging wildly here.

Short steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Zaitsev.
Zaitsev throws a sloppy head kick and Short moves out of range easily.

Short tries to keep at a distance but Zaitsev has taken the fight into the clinch.
Short has Zaitsev pressed against the cage, preventing Zaitsev from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Short breaks the clinch.
Zaitsev pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Short wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Zaitsev rushes Short and presses him up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Zaitsev's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Zaitsev looks to land a combination but Short avoids it well.
Short tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Zaitsev manages to circle out of the way.
Short throws a low kick but it's checked well by Zaitsev.
Zaitsev throws a series of punches but Short moves out of range.
No joy there for Zaitsev, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Zaitsev throws a lazy head kick

so Short counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Zaitsev is wriggling around but Short manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zaitsev scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Short manages to mount him!
Short will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Short looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
BOOM! Short connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Zaitsev tries to hold on but Short postures up.
Short landing strikes from the mount.

Short looking to isolate an arm here. Zaitsev doesn't see it coming and as Short extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Short!
