Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Renato Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Rush has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Renato Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Al Rush!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Rush throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed
and Gracie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rush misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming.
Gracie tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Rush manages to circle out of the way.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rush darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Rush has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gracie misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Rush counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gracie moves to clinch but Rush breaks away
and Rush counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rush scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though.
Gracie tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rush counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Gracie looks to clinch
and Rush counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rush.
Rush swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Renato Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rush throws a jab but it's blocked by Gracie.
Gracie is looking to counter the offense by Rush and move into the clinch.
A punch combination from Gracie misses.
Gracie tries to clinch there but Rush circles away.
Rush looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Rush throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rush ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gracie misses with a looping left.

Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Rush is keeping the position.

Gracie is working hard here to advance position.
Rush has Gracie pulled in close to control his posture.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gracie trying to control but Rush is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gracie seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Gracie gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Gracie has Rush pressed against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Rush fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A shot in the inside from Rush.

Gracie pulls guard successfully.
Rush is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gracie looking to control.
Rush must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gracie isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rush stacks Gracie on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rush!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Rush dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Gracie moves into range and clinches up with Rush.
Rush lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Rush taking a breather.
Gracie is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rush to keep the fight standing.
Rush stalling.
Rush lands a shoulder strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head punch on the inside from Rush fails to land.
Gracie just leaning against Rush, taking a breather.
Rush's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Rush lands a hook that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Rush throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Gracie trying to stall but Rush improves his position.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Rush won't allow it.
Rush being controlled against the cage.
Gracie is trying to pull guard but Rush turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice left hand lands by Rush.

Rush pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie darts in trying to clinch
and Rush counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A looping hook to the body misses from Rush. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gracie tries to counter by clinching up but Rush breaks away and moves out of range.
Gracie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rush lands a nice looking body shot.
Gracie wants to clinch but Rush slips to the side
and Rush counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Gracie doesn't manage to clinch there - Rush circles away.
Gracie moves out of range of the strikes.
Gracie tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Rush manages to circle out of the way.
Rush throws out a loose jab but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gracie moves to clinch but Rush breaks away
and Rush counters with a straight right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rush.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Rush circles away easily
and Rush counters with a three punch combo that has Gracie backing up. Gracie nods at Rush to acknowledge the strikes.
Gracie slips under a jab.
Rush misses with a body shot.
Al Rush is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rush lands a nice shot to the body.
Rush jabs at Gracie's body.
Gracie misses with a straight left.
Rush now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rush misses with a straight left.
Gracie appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Rush manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rush has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rush thows a left - swing and a miss!

Rush lands with a nice body punch.

Gracie manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rush on his heels. He'll look to pass Rush's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rush controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.

Al Rush showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Gracie throws a poor cross that misses
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Rush connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Gracie closes the distance and pushes Rush back into the cage.
Rush makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Rush swings wildly with an uppercut but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Rush won't allow it.
Rush lands an elbow just above Gracie 's eye.
Gracie takes an elbow to the forehead.
Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Gracie takes a shot to the head.


Gracie is rocked!
Rush creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Gracie with a big uppercut! Gracie tries to clinch up but Rush pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Gracie to the mat! Gracie covers up and Rush unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Al Rush!
After winning the bout, Al Rush thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
