Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Givens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylar Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Givens comes to the cage accompanied by Cancer Bats - Sabotage. Patrick Givens has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Patrick Givens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sylar Evans!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans misses with a two punch combination.
Evans throws a series of punches but Givens avoids them all with ease.

Evans instigates a clinch.

Evans jumps guard and drags Givens to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Evans has control of Givens's left arm, preventing Givens from doing any damage.

Givens gets to his feet - Evans follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A swing and a miss from Evans.

Evans closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Evans pulls guard effortlessly.
Evans is pulling down on Givens's head to control his posture.

Evans's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Evans looking for a sweep. Not yet Evans, not yet.
Givens wants to stand but Evans is controlling his posture from full guard.

Evans is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Evans holds on and takes a little breather.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evans can do anything to dispel that myth.
Givens trying to stand up but can't free himself from Evans's guard.

Evans is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Givens defends well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Evans is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Givens is controlling him.
Evans is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Givens trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom.
Evans is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Evans shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Givens but Givens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Evans dives in and grabs Givens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Givens pushes down on Evans's head and hops out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Givens drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Evans gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Evans successfully pulls guard.

Givens stands and throws Evans's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Evans struggling a bit here.
Givens tries to move into full mount but can't pass Evans's legs.
Evans gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Givens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Evans keeps working.
Evans is doing well to control the position and prevent Givens from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A decent looking cross lands there for Givens.
Givens throws a body punch but Evans moves out of range.
Evans has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Evans shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Givens as he avoids it easily.
Evans misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Evans dives in and grabs Givens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Givens pushes down on Evans's head and hops out.
Evans looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Patrick Givens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sylar Evans.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Givens bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Evans's head.

Givens swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Evans.

Evans closes this distance looking for a takedown but Givens circles away.
Givens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Givens misses with a looping right.

Givens throws a right hand that Evans ducks under and follows up with a left that Evans also avoids with ease.
Evans tries to counter with a clinch but Givens shakes him off and moves away.
Sylar Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Givens scores with a hook.
Evans misses the shot to the body.
Givens is looking to counter with head kicks.

Evans has managed to clinch.
Evans stops a takedown attempt from Givens.
Givens is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Evans is defending well.

Evans gets control of Givens's arms and successfully pulls guard. Evans will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Evans has his hands on Givens's head, controlling the position.

Evans has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Givens has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Evans gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Givens is looking to stand back up but Evans counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Givens.


Evans decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Givens tries to keep at a distance but Evans has taken the fight into the clinch.
Givens is trying to drag Evans to the mat but Evans just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Givens goes for a takedown in the clinch but Evans prevents it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Evans has Givens pressed against the cage.
Evans throws a knee to the head but misses.

Evans lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Evans stops Givens from getting back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Evans content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sylar Evans will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Evans takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Patrick Givens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Evans shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Givens's guard.
Evans connects with a couple of short punches.
Evans sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Givens's guard.
Givens is looking to get back to full guard here but Evans has managed to pass to side control instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Evans has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Evans happy to just control the position for now.

Givens takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Evans in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Evans decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Evans drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Evans landing some decent shots from guard.

Givens pushes Evans off and gets back to his feet.

Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard.
Evans sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Evans passes Givens's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evans looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Givens with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nice strikes from Evans there.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Evans in particular looking to stall.
Patrick Givens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Evans is looking for a kimura here.
Evans is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Sylar Evans has got the better of the ground game so far.
Givens wants to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Evans landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Evans is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Evans seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
More stalling from Evans.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
