Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Son Hickman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blazing Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blazing Bob has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Son Hickman's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Son Hickman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blazing Bob!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bob.

Hickman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bob is trying to defend but Hickman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Bob has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hickman is working away from the top position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hickman tries to stand and escape but Bob is controlling the position.
Hickman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hickman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Bob wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hickman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hickman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hickman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bob tries to roll over but Hickman keeps him under control.
Hickman throwing shots but Bob is blocking nicely.
Bob trying to control from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Bob moves into the clinch successfully.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hickman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bob just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bob with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Hickman pulls guard effortlessly.
Hickman keeping full guard, as Bob tries to pass.
Bob throws a strike but Hickman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bob pulls Hickman in close to prevent any damage.
Bob is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hickman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Hickman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hickman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob has a closed guard, preventing Hickman from standing up.
Bob utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hickman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hickman throws a big elbow that misses.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hickman gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hickman instigates a clinch.
Hickman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bob looking to stall.

Hickman gets control of Bob's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hickman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Bob throws an elbow that misses. Hickman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bob's guard. Nice move by Hickman!

Bob is trying to control the position but Hickman postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hickman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bob is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Son Hickman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Bob has Hickman up against the cage in a clinch.
Bob has Hickman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hickman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Bob wants the takedown. Hickman is fighting it off but Bob persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hickman's guard against the cage.
Bob is looking to pass into half guard but Hickman pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Hickman is in guard.

Bob wants to control but Hickman passes easily into half guard.
Hickman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hickman escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hickman fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bob to the ground. Hickman is now in Bob's guard.
Bob looking for a sweep. Not yet Bob, not yet.
Hickman working some strikes from top position.
Bob looking to control but Hickman passes into half guard.

Hickman decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hickman throws a sloppy head kick and Bob moves out of range easily.
Bob changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Bob forces Hickman back against the cage and clinches.
Hickman is pressed up against the cage. Bob has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hickman down to the mat. Hickman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Bob avoids the head kick by Hickman.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hickman clinches with his opponent.

Hickman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bob uses from the top position.

Hickman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bob gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bob throws an elbow that misses. Hickman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bob's guard. Nice move by Hickman!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bob wants to sweep but no luck.
Hickman chips away with some ground and pound.
Hickman postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob wants to stand up but Hickman is controlling him.
Bob is breathing heavily.
Hickman scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Hickman wanted to stand there but Bob had control of the position.
Bob wants to get back to his feet but Hickman passes into half guard.
Hickman tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Bob regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hickman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Son Hickman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bob drives through and clinches with Hickman against the cage.
Bob is looking for a takedown.
Son Hickman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blazing Bob.

Bob pulls Hickman into guard.
Hickman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bob can do to turn this around?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bob is working an open guard so Hickman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Hickman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bob on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hickman lands with a punch from half guard.
Hickman tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bob controls his leg.
Bob looks like he's trying to stand up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hickman stands up and beckons Bob to join him on the feet.

Bob forces Hickman back against the cage and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hickman jumps guard but Bob stands there with Hickman around his waist. Hickman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bob gets underhooks to prevent Hickman's takedown attempt.
Hickman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bob just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Son Hickman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hickman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bob smiles and moves away.

Bob closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hickman to the mat! Hickman manages to get full guard.

Hickman uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Hickman takes the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hickman drags the fight down to the ground.
Bob forces his way into half guard.
Hickman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hickman trying to control here.
Hickman pushes Bob off looking to stand but Bob dives back in and keeps control.
Bob wants to free his trapped foot but Hickman is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hickman trying to control from the bottom.
Hickman avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bob.
Bob is just content to waste time from the top position. Hickman takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Bob trying to move into half guard but instead Hickman has managed to sweep!

Hickman won't allow Bob to sweep him here.
Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bob working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hickman has passed into half guard!

Hickman stands up out of the half guard.
Blazing Bob has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hickman takes a swing at Bob's ribcage but misses.
Hickman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bob manages to avoid it.
Bob stuffs the takedown attempt from Hickman. Hickman gets slowly back to his feet.
Bob fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hickman avoids it really well and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Son Hickman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hickman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
