Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quincy Gregory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Monty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quincy Gregory has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quincy Gregory!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Monty!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Monty.
Gregory really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gregory uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monty.
Gregory slips a straight right by Monty.
Monty takes a swing at Gregory's ribcage but misses.
Monty throws a body shot but no joy.
Monty tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gregory was well out of range. Poor timing from Monty.
Gregory cracks Monty with an open hand slap.
Gregory blocks a jab.
Gregory swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Monty throws a right hand that Gregory ducks under and follows up with a left that Gregory also avoids with ease.
Monty just misses with a punch to the body.
Monty throws a sloppy body shot
and Gregory counters with a good low kick that Monty was not able to check.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gregory shoots in for a takedown but Monty shows good takedown defense.

Joe Monty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gregory has a takedown stuffed.

Monty throws a body punch but Gregory moves out of range.
Gregory is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.


It looks like Quincy Gregory has been cut.

Gregory shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Monty is trying to defend but Gregory finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gregory connects with a nice short shot to Monty's temple.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Monty can do anything to dispel that myth.

Monty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gregory. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gregory lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gregory thows a huge punch but Monty dodges it nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gregory in particular looking to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Quincy Gregory will probably get the nod.

That's time! Gregory's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gregory tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Monty defends well and Gregory ends up having to push Monty into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Nice shot lands for Monty.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monty throws a hook to the side of Gregory's head but Gregory sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Monty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Joe Monty seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Monty lands with a shot to the body.

Monty throws a combination that misses
and Gregory counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Gregory walks into a jab.


Gregory is rocked!
Monty is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Gregory flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Gregory is out cold! Monty holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
