Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Philo Beddo (ranked 472 p4p, 74 weight class) and Gerrald James (ranked 708 p4p, 111 weight class). Beddo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Philo Beddo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerrald James!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with a looping right.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
Beddo checks the leg kick nicely there.
James bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
James lands with a cross.
James misses with a hook. Beddo ducked under it nicely.
Beddo throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease.
Beddo throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Beddo misses the jab.
James has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Beddo is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Beddo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Beddo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Beddo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
James lands a jab to the head.
James throws out a loose jab but Beddo uses good head movement to avoid it.

James scores with a hook to the body. Beddo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Beddo shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. James eats them both and turns towards Beddo to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Gerrald James has been cut.
Beddo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gerrald James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Beddo slips a straight right by James.
James throws an overhand right that lands on Beddo's shoulder, as Beddo tries to avoid the shot.
Beddo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Beddo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Beddo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Beddo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling James to score with a decent uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and James counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
James swings for the body but Beddo moves out of range.
Beddo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
Beddo moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Beddo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Beddo avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Beddo tries to counter with a takedown but James is quick to defend against it.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beddo.
James stuns Beddo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Philo Beddo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Beddo.
James throws a hook to the side of Beddo's head but Beddo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Beddo cracks James with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Beddo sizes up James with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Beddo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

James makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Beddo is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beddo was well out of range. Poor timing from James.

Beddo tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Beddo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beddo off to one side.
James throws an overhand right that lands on Beddo's shoulder, as Beddo tries to avoid the shot.

Beddo goes for a double leg but James avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as James continues to drive forward.
James does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Beddo swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James leaves Beddo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
James moves out of range as Beddo throws a body kick.
Beddo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and James connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Beddo scrambles back to his feet.

Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
