PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Bright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blazing Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clayton Bright looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Clayton Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blazing Bob!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bright slaps away a takedown attempt from Bob, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bright is looking to counter the offense by Bob and move into the clinch.
Bright tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bob swivels and escapes.
Bob was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Bright changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bob looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bright working the head and body with strikes.
Sloppy strikes there by Bright.
You can see the frustration on Bob's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bob looks winded!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bob parries the strikes from Bright easily there. Bright is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bob to escape.
Bright really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bright throws a strike aimed at the side of Bob's head but Bob avoids it well.

Bright tries for a kimura but Bob is defending well.

Bright working the ground and pound but Bob is defending the strikes.

Bright wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bob, who protects the arm well.

Bright tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bright has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bright lands a few punches from side control.

Bright swings around for an armbar but Bob sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bright's guard.
Bright has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bob lands a couple of digs.

Bright keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.

Bright is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Bright tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bob smiles and moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bright has had enough of the clinch but Bob keeps him there for the moment.
With the fighters up against the cage, Bob throws an elbow but misses.
Bob keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bright's efforts to push away.
Bob misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bright.
Bright throws a knee to the head but misses.
Bob has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bright is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bright wants to get back to striking at distance but Bob won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A frustrated look appears on Bright's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bob is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Bright breaks from the clinch.

Bob gets caught napping as Bright dives in and scores a takedown. Bob manages to retain guard.
Bright postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bright missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bright throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bob works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bright has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bob is proving hard to escape from.
Bob tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clayton Bright dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bob stuffs the takedown attempt from Bright. Bright gets slowly back to his feet.
Bright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bob paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bright is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bob.
Bob fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bright will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bright slaps away a takedown attempt from Bob, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bright feinted with a counter takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bob takes one to the chin there.
Bright is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bob can do to turn this around?
Horrible takedown attempt by Bright or perhaps it was just good defense by Bob, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clayton Bright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bright misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bob feints a counter leg kick.
Bright stuffs the takedown.

Bob keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bright.
Bob wants to counter the offense by Bright and move into the clinch position.
Bright fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bob tries to clinch up but Bright circles away and keeps his distance.

Bob drives through and clinches with Bright against the cage.

Bright breaks from the clinch.
Clayton Bright is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bob tries to clinch there but Bright circles away.
Bob tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Bob throws a leg kick that misses.
Bright appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Bright shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bob pinned against the cage. Bob gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bob tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Bob clinches up against the cage.

Bob pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bright shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bob napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Bob bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blazing Bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Bright misses with an uppercut

and Bob counters with a single leg into guard. Bright didn't expect that.

Bright has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bob is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Bob has Bright pressed against the cage, preventing Bright from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Bob has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bright after a bit of a struggle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bright throws a right hand that Bob ducks under and follows up with a left that Bob also avoids with ease.

Bright drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bob tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bright wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bright sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bob is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Bright with the ground and pound but Bob regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Nice strikes from Bright there.
Bright throwing shots but Bob is blocking nicely.

Bright maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Bob could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bright has cracked it and Bob is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bright!
