PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leo Castellano (ranked 3832 p4p, 368 weight class) and Alexander Steinsson (ranked 24157 p4p, 687 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Castellano might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to TESTIFY. Steinsson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Make Love. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Steinsson!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steinsson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Castellano connects with a single shot there.

Castellano takes the fight into the clinch.

Steinsson is looking for a takedown.

Castellano has Steinsson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Castellano pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Steinsson tumbling to the mat - Castellano dives into Steinsson's guard.
Steinsson controls Castellano momentarily but Castellano frees himself.
Steinsson can't keep his opponent in guard - Castellano advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Castellano is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Steinsson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Castellano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Steinsson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Castellano looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Castellano has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Steinsson is trying desperately to improve position.

Castellano stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Steinsson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Steinsson wants to clinch up but Castellano keeps it at a distance.

Castellano lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Steinsson shoots in for a takedown but Castellano shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Leo Castellano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Steinsson.
Steinsson throws a low kick, looking for Castellano's leg but Castellano calmly moves out of range.
Castellano tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Steinsson manages to circle out of the way.
Castellano connects with a looping right hand.
Steinsson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Castellano.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steinsson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Steinsson is trying to pull guard but Castellano turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Castellano scores with a shot to the side of Steinsson's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Castellano's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Castellano jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Steinsson walks into a straight right hand from Castellano.
Castellano comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Castellano instigates a clinch.
Steinsson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Castellano gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Castellano works on Steinsson's body with a couple of short punches.

Castellano drags the fight down to the ground.
Castellano bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Steinsson's guard.

Castellano is pushing down on Steinsson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Steinsson is fighting to maintain full guard but Castellano has managed to sneak the leg through.

Castellano has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Castellano instigates a clinch.

Castellano is leaning against Steinsson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Steinsson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Castellano after a bit of a struggle.
Steinsson is breathing heavily.
A short uppercut from Castellano.
Castellano gets through Steinsson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Castellano lands with a left to the head.
A left hand lands to the body for Castellano.

Castellano has Steinsson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Castellano pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Steinsson tumbling to the mat - Castellano dives into Steinsson's guard.
Castellano sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Steinsson's guard.
Castellano is taking a breather. Steinsson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Castellano's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Castellano is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Steinsson can do to turn this around?

Leo Castellano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Castellano is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steinsson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Castellano is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Steinsson is trying to escape and Castellano transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Steinsson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Castellano! Very nice indeed!
