Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Carlsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Maichuso!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlsson is looking to clinch but Maichuso is avoiding it.
Maichuso wants to counter with a clinch but Carlsson pushes him away.
Carlsson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carlsson.

Carlsson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Maichuso keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Maichuso should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Maichuso is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Carlsson trying to mount his opponent but Maichuso defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maichuso wants to get back to full guard.
Carlsson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carlsson is looking to stall here but Maichuso recovers full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maichuso has his hands on Carlsson's head, controlling the position.
Let's hope that Maichuso has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carlsson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Carlsson closes the distance but Maichuso moves to the side

and Maichuso counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Carlsson is looking to get back to is feet but Maichuso passes into side control.
Carlsson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maichuso wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Maichuso stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Maichuso moves into the clinch.

Maichuso with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Carlsson successfully pulls guard.
Carlsson wants to sweep but no luck.
Carlsson is working hard here to advance position.

Maichuso stands and steps away. Carlsson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Carlsson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Maichuso tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carlsson is in Maichuso's guard.
Carlsson is breathing heavily.

Carlsson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Maichuso has taken the fight to the clinch.
Carlsson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Maichuso's efforts to push away.
Carlsson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Carlsson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Maichuso jumps guard but Carlsson stands there with Maichuso around his waist. Maichuso gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Maichuso is fighting off a takedown attempt but Carlsson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Maichuso to the mat. Maichuso regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Maichuso fails in his attempt to clinch.

Carlsson shoots in and gets a takedown into Maichuso's guard.

Carlsson stands and steps away. Maichuso gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Carlsson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maichuso can do to turn this around?

Carlsson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Maichuso's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maichuso is pulling down on Carlsson's head to control his posture.

Maichuso has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Maichuso clinches with his opponent.

Carlsson has clasped his hands together around Maichuso's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Carlsson advances nicely into full mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carlsson throwing strikes here but Maichuso is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Carlsson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Maichuso has worked his arm free - good work by Maichuso!
Maichuso wants to control but Carlsson postures up.
Maichuso is looking to reverse the position.
Maichuso regains half guard there - taking advantage of Carlsson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Maichuso is pressing down on Carlsson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Carlsson looking to sit in guard and control but Maichuso gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carlsson is on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maichuso stands up from mount. Strange move.
Maichuso tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Carlsson closes the distance but Maichuso moves to the side

and Maichuso counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Carlsson!

Maichuso decides to stand back up. Maichuso steps back and let's Carlsson get back to his feet.
Maichuso wants to clinch.
Maichuso throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maichuso fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maichuso closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Carlsson misses with a shot to the body

and Maichuso counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Maichuso.
Carlsson wants to get back to his feet but Maichuso passes into half guard.

Maichuso postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Carlsson to stand up.
David Carlsson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Carlsson looking to score a takedown here. Maichuso is defending well but Carlsson drives through and ends up in Maichuso's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I would just about give that final round to Jose Maichuso.
I think Carlsson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
