PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rogelio Burch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orlando EoS (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rogelio Burch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Orlando EoS!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

EoS shoots in and gets a takedown into Burch's guard.
Burch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

EoS looks like he's trying to stand up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if EoS can do anything to dispel that myth.
Burch working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Burch thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed EoS's head.
EoS pushes Burch off looking to stand but Burch dives back in and keeps control.
Burch working EoS over with strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burch lands with a punch from half guard.
Burch working over EoS with some ground and pound. EoS looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Burch landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

EoS wants to get back to his feet.
EoS blocking the ground and pound attempt from Burch.
EoS is trying to stand back up but Burch is controlling him

Burch is looking for a kimura but EoS is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Burch to get the leverage.
Burch has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

EoS is trying to maintain the position but Burch is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Burch tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Burch changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. EoS tries to avoid it but Burch manages to keep hold of a leg and drag EoS to the ground. EoS escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

EoS looking to score a takedown here. Burch is defending well but EoS drives through and ends up in Burch's guard.
Burch is trying to keep EoS in close.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
EoS is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
EoS tries to free his leg and advance position but Burch is retaining full guard.
Burch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Burch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
EoS slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Burch has his foot on EoS's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. EoS works his way back into a safe position though.
Burch looking for a sweep. Not yet Burch, not yet.
EoS really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

EoS is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
EoS must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Burch controls EoS momentarily but EoS frees himself.
EoS slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Burch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
EoS controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Burch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Burch will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

EoS bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
EoS tries to advance to mount but Burch denies him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
EoS taking a breather here.
EoS is looking to take a break and control but Burch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rogelio Burch will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



EoS manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Burch on his heels. He'll look to pass Burch's guard now, I'm sure.

Burch uses the cage to get back to his feet.

EoS closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
EoS not doing much here.
Burch is refusing to be controlled, as EoS sits in half guard.
Burch makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Burch.

EoS slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
EoS's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Burch lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Burch tries to stand but EoS is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
EoS wants to sweep here but Burch controlling him for the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Burch's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
EoS wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Burch manages to pass to side control.
Burch not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burch working EoS over with strikes.

Burch is looking for a kimura here.
EoS on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Burch looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Burch is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
EoS wants to improve his position but Burch is controlling well.

EoS keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Burch in particular looking to stall.
EoS is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Burch gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Burch kicks EoS off and gets to his feet.
EoS thows a leg kick but Burch checks it

and Burch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in EoS's guard.
Burch has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of EoS is proving hard to escape from.
Burch lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Burch with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Rogelio Burch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Burch in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Burch drops back looking for a leg! EoS is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and EoS manages to kick Burch off! Burch jumps back into EoS's guard.
EoS wants to sweep here but Burch controlling him for the moment.
Burch tries to stand but EoS is controlling from the bottom.
Burch throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Burch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that EoS can do to turn this around?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Burch feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Burch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Burch throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as EoS works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
EoS is looking to stand up but Burch isn't so interested in that idea.
Burch wants to stand but EoS has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Burch postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
EoS avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

EoS drives through with a takedown into Burch's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Burch wants to stand and escape but EoS is having none of it.
EoS tries to free his leg and advance position but Burch is retaining full guard.

Burch can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as EoS controls the pace.

Burch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in EoS's guard.

Burch postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Burch distracts EoS with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Burch wants to stand but EoS is controlling his posture from full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
EoS wants to improve his position but instead Burch has moved into half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burch, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
