The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lucas needs to keep his hands up - Mercenarul had a free shot at his head there.
Lucas takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Mercenarul's coach down at Quick Fingers BEST BANG FOR BUCK Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mercenarul's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Mercenarul works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Lucas shoots in and drives through. Mercenarul sprawls well.

Lucas appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lucas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mercenarul throws the left hand but Lucas avoids the punch easily.

Lucas has been working on his balance at Kung Fu Fighting Club ($299 entry fee), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Mercenarul.

Mercenarul sends Lucas crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mercenarul is motioning to the referee to let Lucas up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Lucas is rocked!
Mercenarul lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Lucas up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Mercenarul from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Lucas's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
