Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cristobal Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Devonshire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Charlie Devonshire enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cristobal Salazar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Charlie Devonshire !
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Devonshire shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Salazar is trying to defend but Devonshire finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Salazar scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Devonshire manages to mount him!
Salazar wants to control but Devonshire is having none of it.
Salazar tries to reverse the position but Devonshire maintains control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Devonshire manages to capitalize on a mistake by Salazar to take his back!
Salazar tries to roll but Devonshire sticks to his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Devonshire is not going to allow Salazar to sit and survive in this position.
Devonshire has the hooks in. Salazar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Devonshire working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Salazar staying busy and making it hard for Devonshire to control.

Salazar is keeping busy.
Salazar is trying to get back to his feet but Devonshire has full control of the position and if anything, Salazar has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Salazar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Devonshire is hanging on to Salazar's back as he tries to escape.

Salazar tries to escape the position.
Salazar trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Devonshire tries to get the hooks in deep but Salazar pushed the leg off.
Salazar looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Salazar tries to escape but Devonshire has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salazar manages to reverse the position and now he's in Devonshire 's guard. Nice work there by Salazar.
Salazar looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Devonshire thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Devonshire being controlled here, momentarily.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Devonshire gets tackled into the cage by Salazar. Salazar maintains the clinch.
Salazar tries to pull guard but Devonshire holds him up against the cage and eventually Salazar drops back down to his feet.

Devonshire drags the fight down to the ground.
Salazar sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Devonshire looking to control but Salazar passes into half guard.

Devonshire has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Devonshire wants to improve his position but Salazar is controlling well.
Salazar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Salazar lands with a punch from half guard.

Salazar decides to stand up.
Salazar misses with a takedown attempt - Devonshire sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Devonshire fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Salazar to the ground. Devonshire is now in Salazar's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Salazar manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Devonshire is looking to break free of the clinch but Salazar has double underhooks.
Salazar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Devonshire pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cristobal Salazar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Devonshire drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Salazar regains half guard.
Salazar wants to get back to full guard but Devonshire has passed into side control.
Salazar is trying to improve his position.

Devonshire wants to lay and pray for a moment but Salazar keeps working.
Devonshire creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Devonshire wants to take a breather but Salazar manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Devonshire .
Salazar doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Devonshire trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Salazar trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Devonshire looking to sit in guard and control but Salazar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Salazar works over Devonshire with some ground and pound from guard.
Salazar postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Devonshire working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Salazar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Salazar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Salazar stays in close to Devonshire 's body and controls the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Salazar is fighting to break Devonshire 's control of his arms but Devonshire is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Devonshire shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Salazar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Salazar pushes Devonshire off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Salazar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Devonshire paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Salazar is looking to clinch.
Devonshire drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Salazar defends it well.
Devonshire keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Devonshire fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Salazar sprawls well initially but Devonshire persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Salazar moves into full guard.
Devonshire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Salazar keeping moving, preventing Devonshire from controlling successfully.

Salazar isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Devonshire stacks Salazar on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Devonshire !

Devonshire decides to stand back up.
Salazar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Devonshire avoids it really well and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Devonshire swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Devonshire tries to close the distance and clinch but Salazar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Devonshire looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Salazar!

Salazar throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Salazar moves out of range of the body kick from Devonshire .
Salazar shoots and misses
and Devonshire counters with a nice uppercut.

Devonshire gets a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Devonshire stops Salazar from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Devonshire is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Salazar is just riding it out for now. Devonshire eventually gives up the hold.
Salazar regains full guard. Nicely done.
Salazar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Devonshire is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Devonshire trying to control but Salazar is working from the bottom.
Salazar pulls Devonshire in close to prevent any damage.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Salazar wants to sweep but no luck.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cristobal Salazar.
I think Salazar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
