PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jone (ranked 189 p4p, 29 weight class) and Arjen Diaz (ranked 207 p4p, 33 weight class). Jone comes into the arena with If you smell! blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Diaz's choice of entrance music: Rise Against - Give It All. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Jone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arjen Diaz!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jone misses with an uppercut. Diaz saw that one coming.
Diaz misses with a wild body shot.
Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Jone.
Diaz displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Jone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Diaz.
Diaz has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jone is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Jone dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Jone takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The fighters circling - Jone throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Jone throws a solid leg kick but Diaz takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Jone.
Diaz cracks Jone with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Diaz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jone throws out the jab.

Diaz takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Diaz cracks the inside of Jone's front leg.

Diaz drops Jone with a nice combination! Diaz dives into Jone's guard, looking to finish!

Diaz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jone wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Diaz manages to pass to side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jone tries to kick Diaz off in order to stand up. Diaz Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Jone pushes Diaz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Diaz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Jone seems to have got his legs back now.
Diaz wants to control but Jone is keeping him busy.
Jone is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Diaz has just dragged him back down to the mat.
You can see the frustration on Jone's face as Diaz controls the position.

Jone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jone steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Diaz. That one must have hurt.
Jone sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Diaz misses with a looping right.

A big left from Jone misses.
Jone darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Diaz sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Jone to the ground! Diaz dives into full mount looking to finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jone tries to buck Diaz off but he can't manage it.
Diaz tries to control but Jone wriggling away.
Jone is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Diaz sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Arjen Diaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
