PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Siete Finess (ranked 4661 p4p, 434 weight class) and Bruce Leeroy (ranked 10353 p4p, 679 weight class). Leeroy has chosen Boondocks Theme Song as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Siete Finess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 45 - 46 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Leeroy!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leeroy scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Leeroy tried to score with a low kick but Finess checks it.
Nice sprawl there from Leeroy as Finess shoots in.
Leeroy connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Finess's hands.
Finess doesn't manage to clinch there - Leeroy circles away.
Leeroy lands with a nice body punch.

Finess closes the distance and clinches.
Leeroy is trying to push Finess away but Finess has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Finess tries to stall but Leeroy uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Finess tries to pull guard but Leeroy won't allow it.
Finess's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Leeroy lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
A short body shot lands from Leeroy as the two fighters clinch.

Leeroy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Leeroy throws a right hand that misses
and Finess counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Leeroy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Leeroy keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

A big left from Leeroy misses.
A shot to the body from Leeroy misses
and Finess cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Finess throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Leeroy thumps Finess with a low kick.
Leeroy misses with a kick to the body

and Finess counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Leeroy!
Leeroy is looking to reverse the position.
Leeroy seems a little lost for a moment, as Finess dominates the positioning.
Finess working the ground and pound but Leeroy is defending the strikes.

Finess wants to take a breather but Leeroy manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Finess.
Leeroy wants to sweep but no luck.
Finess sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Finess wants to control but Leeroy is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Leeroy tries to improve position but can't.

Finess cracks Leeroy with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Finess is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Leeroy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Finess trying to control the action but Leeroy is working from the bottom.
Finess is chipping away with strikes.
We've been hearing good reports from Finess's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Leeroy is not content to let Finess control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Siete Finess will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Leeroy keeps the fight on the outside.
Finess fails to land with a series of punches.
Leeroy just misses with a punch to the body.
Finess half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Finess counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Leeroy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Leeroy keeping moving, preventing Finess from controlling successfully.
Finess working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Leeroy's head.
Finess is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Leeroy can do to turn this around?
Finess looking to sit in guard and control but Leeroy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Finess has his hands on Leeroy's head, controlling the position.
Finess is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Finess bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Leeroy's guard.

Finess is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Leeroy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Leeroy has escaped and now he's on top!

Finess is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Leeroy forces his way into half guard.
Finess works his way to full guard. Good work.
Finess is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Finess is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Leeroy sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Finess pulls Leeroy in close to prevent any damage.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Finess tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Finess digs a good body shot into Leeroy's ribs.

Leeroy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Finess to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Finess sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Leeroy's guard.
Leeroy is breathing heavily.
Finess slips a nice elbow through Leeroy's hands, connecting with Leeroy's forehead.
Leeroy gets full guard.
Finess postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Leeroy keeping moving, preventing Finess from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Finess looking to sit in guard and control but Leeroy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Siete Finess dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A slow jab from Leeroy misses its intended target.

Finess fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Leeroy sprawls well initially but Finess persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Finess is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Leeroy sees it coming and defends easily.
Finess content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Leeroy blocking the ground and pound attempt from Finess.
Finess thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Leeroy's head.

Finess is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Leeroy has managed to free his arm - good work.
Finess is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Leeroy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Finess controlling the action here.
Finess thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Finess scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Finess slows the pace down in half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Leeroy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Finess trying to control the action but Leeroy is working from the bottom.
Siete Finess overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Finess seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Finess is working for a kimura but Leeroy is defending it quite comfortably.
Finess slows the pace down in half guard.
Finess lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Bruce Leeroy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Finess working over Leeroy with some ground and pound. Leeroy looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.


Leeroy is rocked!
Finess lands strikes from half guard.
Leeroy is still in real trouble! Can Finess finish him?
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Finess in particular looking to stall.
Finess has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Finess seems to be working for a kimura but Leeroy defends the submission attempt.
Finess works his way into side control.
Finess landing strikes.
Finess has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Finess in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Leeroy looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Finess turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Siete Finess!
After winning the bout, Siete Finess thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
