Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kampatimar Shankariya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lowell Bockert!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shankariya instigates a clinch.

Shankariya breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

It looks like Lowell Bockert has been cut.
Shankariya shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bockert sprawls well. Bockert wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shankariya gets slowly back to his feet.
Bockert with the counter takedown but Shankariya avoids it easily.

Shankariya fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bockert, pushing him back against the cage.

Shankariya manages to break the clinch.
Shankariya misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shankariya misses with a wild combination.
Bockert wants to counter with a clinch but Shankariya pushes him away.

Shankariya clinches up against the cage.

Shankariya escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shankariya stuffs the takedown.

Shankariya darts in and clinches Bockert up against the cage.
Nice body punch from Shankariya - that landed with a thud.

Bockert has Shankariya pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bockert pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Shankariya tumbling to the mat - Bockert dives into Shankariya's guard.

Shankariya pushes Bockert off and gets back to his feet.
Bockert shoots in looking for a takedown but Shankariya manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bockert's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A quick step to the side and Shankariya tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bockert misses with a takedown
and Shankariya counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kampatimar Shankariya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lowell Bockert.

Shankariya darts in and clinches Bockert up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Shankariya gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Shankariya escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bockert gets tackled into the cage by Shankariya. Shankariya maintains the clinch.

Bockert tries for a takedown. No joy.

Shankariya breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bockert tries to keep at a distance but Shankariya has taken the fight into the clinch.

Shankariya has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bockert uses from the top position.

Shankariya manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Bockert gets tackled into the cage by Shankariya. Shankariya maintains the clinch.

Shankariya's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shankariya has been working on his balance at CT + SPARRING [Closing Tomorrow], so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Bockert.

Bockert can't get the takedown.
Bockert has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Shankariya after a bit of a struggle.

Shankariya breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bockert scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Shankariya has one foot on Bockert's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Shankariya lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bockert at a distance.
Bockert looks winded!

Shankariya rushes Bockert and presses him up against the cage.

Shankariya's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Shankariya shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bockert manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shankariya stands up and waves to Bockert to follow him.
Shankariya moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Shankariya feints and as Bockert raises his hands in defense, Shankariya changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Shankariya stands up from Bockert's guard - Shankariya perhaps looking for a knockout.
Bockert takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shankariya rushes Bockert and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Shankariya breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Shankariya drives through and clinches with Bockert against the cage.

Shankariya breaks from the clinch.
Shankariya lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Shankariya! Bockert is backing up but he can't get away as Shankariya lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Bockert and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kampatimar Shankariya!
A relieved looking Kampatimar Shankariya thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
