Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mason Schmidt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bryan Harold!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Harold throws out a powerful jab.
Harold fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Harold tries to get set, Schmidt tries to push him back and clinch up but Harold manages to avoid the attempt.
Schmidt takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Schmidt fails with a takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Harold.

Harold throws a big shot that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harold throws a push kick but Schmidt slaps the foot to one side.

Schmidt tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Harold manages to circle out of the way.
Harold swings for the body but Schmidt moves out of range.
Schmidt is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Harold.
Harold throws a leg kick that is checked

and Schmidt counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Schmidt in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Schmidt fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Harold wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Schmidt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Schmidt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Schmidt throws a strike aimed at the side of Harold's head but Harold avoids it well.
Schmidt tries to score with some ground and pound. Harold controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Schmidt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Harold is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Schmidt asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Harold can do anything to dispel that myth.
The ground and pound from Schmidt seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Harold is pushing Schmidt's head away, looking to escape. Schmidt manages to hold on to the position though.

Harold is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Schmidt goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Harold has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Schmidt but great work by Harold.

Harold stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Schmidt shoots and misses
and Harold counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Mason Schmidt has been cut.
Schmidt is breathing heavily.
Schmidt shoots in for a takedown but Harold shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mason Schmidt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schmidt takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Harold swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Schmidt counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schmidt.

Harold pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schmidt avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Schmidt walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Harold fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Schmidt on the side of the head.
Harold misses with a wild body shot.
As Harold tries to get set, Schmidt tries to push him back and clinch up but Harold manages to avoid the attempt.
Schmidt takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Harold connects with a nice looking jab.
Harold has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harold fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Good leg kick by Harold there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
A lazy left from Harold finds it's target.
Harold lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.


Schmidt is rocked!
Harold fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Schmidt to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Schmidt looks to clinch but Harold throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Schmidt taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Bryan Harold!
Bryan Harold decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
