The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ross darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Laranja is looking for a sweep. Ross is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ross really is a fat lump.
Laranja is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ross jumps into side control!
Ross slows the pace down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ross working the ground and pound but Laranja is defending the strikes.

Ross staying calm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ross decides to stand up, so the ref orders Laranja to his feet.
Laranja doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ross counters with a two punch combo.
Fabricio Laranja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laranja has his takedown stuffed
and Ross counters with a series of strikes. Laranja will be more careful next time no doubt.

Ross rushes Laranja and presses him up against the cage.

Ross has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Laranja regains guard immediately.
Ross is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ross avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Laranja wants to control but Ross passes easily into half guard.

Laranja is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ross's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ross's back!
Ross looking very determined here, making life difficult for Laranja.

Laranja sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Ross taps out!
