These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monteiro scores with a nice strike.
Monteiro throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Springs waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Monteiro.
Springs throws out a loose jab but Monteiro uses good head movement to avoid it.
A jab from Springs misses.
Monteiro comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Monteiro scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Springs thuds a left hand into Monteiro's body.
Springs scores with a push kick.
Crunch! Monteiro slams his shin into Springs's torso.

Springs tries to keep at a distance but Monteiro has taken the fight into the clinch.
Springs lands a left hand that snaps the head of Monteiro backwards.

Monteiro lands a body punch in the clinch.
Springs looks winded!
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Monteiro breaks from the clinch.
Monteiro scores with a hook.
Monteiro throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Springs on the side of the head.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Monteiro.
Monteiro stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Monteiro throws a quick inside leg kick.
Monteiro connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Monteiro lands a jab.
Monteiro cracks the inside of Springs's front leg.
Monteiro works over Springs's head and body with a nice combination.
Springs is rocked!
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Springs has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
BOOM! Monteiro lands a beautiful left hook that drops Springs. Springs tries to recover but Monteiro is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Springs lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
