And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diyorbek Nurudinov!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Honda dives in for a single leg takedown but Nurudinov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Nurudinov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Honda appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Honda lands with a thumping leg kick.

Honda shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nurudinov's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Honda's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Honda stands up over Nurudinov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Honda working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nurudinov's head.
Honda is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Honda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nurudinov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Honda is aware though and is defending well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nurudinov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Honda trying to control the position from guard on top but Nurudinov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Honda works over Nurudinov with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Honda scoring with punches to the head and body.
Honda chips away with some ground and pound.

Honda lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.


Nurudinov is rocked!
Nurudinov is looking to stand up but Honda isn't so interested in that idea.
Nurudinov is still in real trouble! Can Honda finish him?

Nurudinov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Honda can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Honda distracts Nurudinov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Honda trying to control the position from guard on top but Nurudinov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nurudinov seems to have recovered his senses.
Nurudinov tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nurudinov looking for a guillotine here but Honda defends easily.
Honda lands a couple of digs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Honda distracts Nurudinov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nurudinov working for a triangle but Honda defends it easily.
Honda scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Honda postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces Nurudinov's head off the mat! Nurudinov is out! He's out! Honda jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Edmond Honda!
Edmond Honda decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
