PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammie Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen Eye Of The Tiger as his entrance music. Barry Brown is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Barry Brown!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Clay avoids it really well and circles away.
Brown goes for a double leg but Clay avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Clay continues to drive forward.
Clay is looking to counter the offense by Brown and move into the clinch.

Clay fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brown, pushing him back against the cage.

Clay decides to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Brown throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Brown looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Brown fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Clay manages to avoid it.

Brown closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Clay is looking to control Brown's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Clay avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Clay clinches up with Brown and pushes him back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Clay turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Clay manages to end up in side control.
You can see the frustration on Brown's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Barry Brown will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Clay has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Brown finds it's way round the side to connect with Clay's head.

Clay throws the left hand but Brown avoids the punch easily.

Brown shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clay's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sammie Clay will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Clay is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Brown to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brown shrugs it off.

Clay has control of Brown's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Brown regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Clay jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Brown manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Brown is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
