PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maciej Gorski (ranked 24792 p4p, 658 weight class) and Brij Khali (ranked 10212 p4p, 642 weight class). Gorski comes to the cage accompanied by Harnaś. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Maciej Gorski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 77 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brij Khali!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gorski gets the takedown into side control.
Gorski wants to take a breather but Khali manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Gorski.
Gorski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Khali is keeping the position for now.
Gorski has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Khali scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Gorski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Khali with the counter takedown but Gorski avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Khali.
Gorski went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Gorski scores with a sloppy right hand. Khali should have avoided that one.
Gorski throws a head kick but Khali moves out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A slapping leg kick lands for Gorski.

Gorski misses with a jab, cross combination.
Khali wants to counter with a clinch but Gorski pushes him away.

Gorski lands a high kick to the side of Khali's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Gorski dives into guard, looking to finish.
Gorski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Khali swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gorski gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Khali looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gorski is fending him off so far but Khali persists. Nope, Gorski circles away and we're back to standing.

Gorski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Khali napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gorski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gorski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Khali wants to get back to his feet but Gorski drags him back down.

Gorski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Khali's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Gorski tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Khali is trying to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Khali lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Gorski throws a low kick but Khali avoids it.
Khali slips a jab and a cross from Gorski.
And Khali tries to counter it with a takedown but Gorski pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gorski is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gorski throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Khali tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gorski is in Khali's guard.

Gorski drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Khali dives on top into guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Khali decides to stand and escape the position.
Gorski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Khali circles away quickly and effectively.
Khali drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gorski defends it well.
Maciej Gorski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gorski swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gorski drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Gorski bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Khali throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gorski was covering up waiting for the punch and Khali finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gorski wants to get back to his feet but Khali is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gorski is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khali can do to turn this around?

That was a close second round but I would say that Maciej Gorski will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Gorski throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Khali.
Khali changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Khali drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gorski pulls his leg out and moves away.

Khali takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gorski wants to get back to his feet but Khali is dominant here and he's now got Gorski's back!
What can Gorski do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Brij Khali comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
