The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwell blocks a head kick by Smith.
Caldwell seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Caldwell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As Smith looks to move away, Caldwell throws a big counter combo but Smith just gets out of the way.
Caldwell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Caldwell wants it to stay on the feet.
Caldwell went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Smith clinches.
Smith lands a body punch in the clinch.
Smith is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Smith is leaning against Caldwell and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Smith lands a hook that snaps the head of Caldwell backwards.
Caldwell misses with a knee to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Caldwell tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.
Smith lands a hook that snaps the head of Caldwell backwards.
It looks like Brenton Caldwell has been cut.
Smith is trying to pull guard but Caldwell has him pressed against the cage.
Brenton Caldwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.

Smith putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Caldwell in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Smith comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Smith crunches a lovely knee into Caldwell's ribcage.

Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Caldwell avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Whack! Smith lands a heavy head kick that drops Caldwell. The ref tackles Smith to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Caldwell was done.
