The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sams tries to clinch but Turner moves out of range.

Turner shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Turner showed some decent athleticism there.
Turner drops an elbow to the side of Sams's head.
Sams wants to get back to his feet.
Sams regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Turner.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turner gets to his feet. Sams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Turner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sams bucks up and tries to throw Turner off but instead Turner has got his back!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Turner is persistently looking for the submission but Sams is defending it well.
Sams tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Sams wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Turner.
Turner sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Sams is in a horrible position here. Turner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sams is looking to improve his position but Turner isn't that keen on the idea.
Turner really is a fat lump.
Turner throws a sloppy strike and Sams uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Sams has ended up in Turner's guard.

Sams tries to stand but Turner is controlling from the bottom.

Sams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Turner, up you get!

Turner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sams napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sams throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Turner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sams looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Turner tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Sams manages to circle out of the way.
Turner shoots in for a takedown but Sams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sams darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Elton Turner has been cut.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Sams has his feet on Turner's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Turner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sams sprawls well. Sams wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Turner gets slowly back to his feet.

Turner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sams pinned against the cage. Sams gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Turner is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sams.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Turner.
Turner shoots in looking for a takedown. Sams tries to sprawl out of it but Turner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sams manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Turner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sams as he avoids it easily.

Turner tries to keep at a distance but Sams has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sams manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Turner manages to get himself to full guard.

Sams gets to his feet - Turner follows without any prompting.

Sams rushes Turner and presses him up against the cage.

Sams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sams fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Turner, pushing him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee calls for Sams to work.
Turner is looking to take this one to the mat.

Sams is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Turner can't fight it off and eventually Sams manages to take the fight to the floor. Turner looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Turner pushes Sams off and scrambles back to his feet.
Sams sizes up Turner with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Sams fails in his attempt to clinch.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Sams scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Turner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sams pinned against the cage. Sams gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Turner takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Turner is rocked!

Elton Turner's cut is getting worse.
Sams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sams is stalking Turner. Turner circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Sams, and it's lights out! Turner really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
